Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm with winds of 185 mph, struck Jamaica on October 28, leaving widespread devastation. Entire towns are submerged, over 530,000 people are without power, and more than 15,000 residents are in shelters. The Black River Hospital also suffered severe damage.
